About me

¿What do I bring to the table?
Hi! I’m Rubén Saavedra Álvarez, a translator based near Barcelona.
I have earned the nickname “Rubenpedia” due to my boundless curiosity and wide-ranging knowledge. This broad expertise has not only made me unbeatable at trivia games, but it’s also opened doors to incredible opportunities, particularly in video game localization. Although the projects I’ve worked on vary greatly, they all have one thing in common: a high degree of specialization.
My ever-growing portfolio is proof of my versatility and ability to localize just about anything you can imagine.
I’m fully equipped to manage every stage of video game localization, from translation to final delivery. If you need someone to oversee the entire process, I can also step in as a project manager. Additionally, my localization quality assurance (LQA) services are available throughout any phase of localization to ensure your product is polished and ready to shine.
This expertise is enhanced by my active membership in Gamer Minds, a collective of translators I’ve been proud to be part of since early 2024. A recent highlight was translating Nine Sols, our first project together, which proved to be a rewarding collaboration.
In addition to video game localization, I also offer audiovisual translation services, including dubbing and subtitling. You can find further details on these services in the “Services” section.
My story so far
Video games have been an integral part of my life for as long as I can remember, fueling a dream to transform my passion for gaming into a professional career—and I eventually made it happen.
When MMORPGs dominated my teenage years, I often found myself playing games without Spanish localization. That challenge sparked my interest in linguistics, ultimately leading me to earn a degree in Translation and Interpreting and later specialize in Audiovisual Translation (MTAV) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
Shortly after finishing my studies, my professional journey began with a well-known video game publisher, Ubisoft. Not one to shy away from challenges, I seized the opportunity to relocate to Bucharest, Romania, without thinking twice. This experience not only boosted my morale but also played a key role in shaping me into the translator I am today.
Over the years, I have remained commited to my goals, and I’m proud to say that my career is going even better than I expected. In my five years as a professional translator, I’ve had the privilege of working on a steady stream of engaging and challenging projects. The fact that many clients return to collaborate with me speaks volumes about the trust they place in my work and the value I consistently bring to every project.
